FM TecHub publishes technology and cyber security news, guides and learning notes for everyone, from complete beginners to IT professionals. This page explains how we choose, write, check and correct what we publish.
What we cover
We focus on news that matters to everyday technology users and IT learners: cyber security incidents, scams and how to avoid them, data breaches, artificial intelligence, networking and Wi-Fi, cloud services, and phones and gadgets. We choose stories by how many people they affect and whether readers can do something useful about them.
Original writing
Every story is written for FM TecHub in our own words. We do not copy or reword other publishers' articles. We explain technical terms in plain English and finish each story with practical steps readers can take.
Sources and fact checking
- We check facts against official sources wherever possible: vendors' security advisories, government agencies such as CISA, the FBI, the FTC and the UK's NCSC, regulators, and the organisations involved.
- We also use reputable news organisations and security researchers, and we list the sources we used at the end of each story.
- Where details are unconfirmed, such as claims made by attackers, we say so clearly.
- We never publish rumours as facts, and we do not invent quotes, figures or people.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help with research, drafting and checking. Every story is reviewed by the editor before it is published, and the editor is responsible for what appears on the site.
Corrections and updates
If we get something wrong, we correct it as soon as we can and mark the story as updated with the date. If a developing story changes, we update it and note what changed. To report an error, please contact us.
Independence
FM TecHub is independent. We are not paid to cover products or companies, and we do not publish sponsored content as news. If that ever changes, sponsored content will be clearly labelled.
Safety
Our security and scam coverage is protective. We explain how to recognise and avoid threats; we never publish instructions that would help someone attack others.
