- From 1G to 5G: how mobile networks evolvedA tour of mobile network generations from analogue 1G to 5G, covering the main technologies, what each generation added, how security improved, and why older generations still matter to security teams. 8 min · Beginner
- 5G architecture: RAN, core and the service-based architectureHow a 5G network is built: the user equipment, the radio access network with its RU, DU and CU split, the transport network, and the cloud-native 5G Core with its service-based architecture and key network functions. 9 min · Intermediate
- 5G network slicing: logical networks on shared infrastructureWhat 5G network slicing is, how slices are identified and selected, how they are created and managed, typical slice types, and the isolation and security questions that slicing raises. 8 min · Intermediate
- 5G security features and risksThe security features designed into 5G, such as mutual authentication, concealed subscriber identities, service-based architecture protection and roaming security, and the main risks from virtualisation, supply chain, APIs and legacy networks. 9 min · Advanced
- Private 5G networks for enterprisesWhat private 5G networks are, the main deployment models, spectrum options, how they compare with Wi-Fi, typical industrial uses and the security and operational points an enterprise must plan for. 8 min · Intermediate
- 5G service types: eMBB, URLLC and mMTCThe three 5G usage scenarios defined for IMT-2020, enhanced mobile broadband, ultra-reliable low-latency communication and massive machine-type communication, with realistic examples, their requirements and their security points. 7 min · Beginner
- What 6G may bring and whenA careful look at 6G: how the next mobile generation is being defined through the ITU IMT-2030 framework and 3GPP, the technologies being researched, the likely security themes and how to separate plans from hype. 7 min · Beginner
