How to get faster
- Learn the block sizes. /25 = 128, /26 = 64, /27 = 32, /28 = 16, /29 = 8, /30 = 4. The same pattern repeats in every octet.
- Find the interesting octet: the one where the mask is not 255 or 0.
- Network address = the multiple of the block size at or below the IP in that octet.
- Broadcast = next network minus 1. Usable hosts = 2host bits − 2.
